We're very excited about our upcoming Harp and Story Festival.…
This Wednesday we were excited to finally have our first harp orchestra session! Although the Summer holidays has made it hard for many of our members to attend in August we still had 5 of us there at our first meeting plus Creag who was doing a very good job as translator for my baby brain (as I don’t always make sense these days) and conductor/videographer (yes men can multi-task).
I must say the group genuinely impressed me. We managed to learn a lot more than I initially thought was possible. All our members were new to the harp but by the end of the session we could play Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star and Hallelujah as a group! Albert hall here we come!
It was so wonderful to finally hear the harps play all together, until now it has all just been an idea. As I have a limited number of hands I could only imagine how it would sound, therefore to finally hear the orchestra come to life was a very special experience.
Thank you so much to all those who attended, you really are helping me make a long awaited dream come true, and hopefully as we get to know each other more and more each week you can teach me how best to teach you, as we all have a different way of learning. Together we can create something very special and unique.
For those of you who couldn’t make it, don’t worry, we will learn plenty of songs so you can us join us later on.
It’s a very exciting time for Hands on Harps, our first meeting has filled us with a new wave of enthusiasm and energy!
