We have many teachers around the country that can help you learn the harp, including Morwenna in Stroud, Ellie in Hungerford and more.

Morwenna Louttit-Vermaat harp teacher

Morwenna Louttit-Vermaat

Location: in Stroud, Glos. or on Zoom

Morwenna offers harp lessons either Face to Face in Stroud or via Zoom, in the evenings.

Having played the harp since the age of 12, Morwenna is passionate about finding the best way for each particular student to learn. For her, given her dyslexia, this included the use of colour, which has led to the development of the Rainbow Harp.

More of a “harper” than a “harpist”, Morwenna plays the folk harp beautifully and has a large repertoire of tunes to offer students.

lizzy perryman harp teacher

Lizzy Perryman

Location: in Faversham, Kent or on Zoom

Lizzy offers 1-1 harp tuition via Zoom, or Face to Face at her music studio in Faversham, Kent.

As someone who learnt the harp as an adult, Lizzy understands the joys and frustrations of being an adult beginner. Her main focus in teaching is to build confidence and make sure her students feel at one with their instrument. She uses elements of the Alexander Technique to help her students play in a completely relaxed and easeful way.

Lizzy enjoys playing and teaching a wide range of styles, including classical, pop and meditative.

tom parry

Tom "Celyn" Parry

Location: Llangollen canal (North Wales), at your home or on Zoom

My name is Tom (“Celyn”) Parry and I have 20 years experience as a professional musician in all sorts of bands and on lots of instruments, but I especially love to play music and sing with the harp for people who need it most. Most of my work has been with disabled children in special schools and care homes but also with people in intensive care wards and hospices and many other settings.

My ancestors were harpists for centuries in North Wales until their village, Capel Celyn, was flooded in the 1960s. I’m honouring this heritage in new ways all around the country. I sometimes combine the sound of the harp with other instruments such as Shruti box, flutes, saxophone, clarinet, frame drum, koshi bells, cello and voice to create beautiful immersive soundscapes which can transport people away from their physical bodies and help ease pain or trauma.

I have found this to be very effective in helping all sorts of people, from the very ill, to people who just need to de-stress.

I love to give lessons in playing harp, especially the Hands on Harp Rainbow Harp, as it is so accessible to everyone. It is a joy to witness the empowerment that people experience when they discover that they too can play the harp.

I can do lessons at home on my narrow boat on the Llangollen canal (North Wales), on Zoom or I can drive to your homes with an extra cost of 50p per mile.

Lucinder Pennick-Yiasimi

Location: Blofield, Norfolk or on Zoom

When asked the question ‘what made you begin the harp?’, I always think back to when I was a little girl of seven. I remember watching the BBC Proms on the television and being captivated by the charm of the instrument. I was lucky enough to have fantastic, supportive parents with a large car!

Consequently, I have spent my life from that point on, studying, practising, teaching and genuinely loving everything about the harp and the world of music.

After initially learning with local professional harpists Stewart Green and then Brian Davis, I moved to London where I studied amongst and with harpists such as Charlotte Seale (Principle Harpist with the Northern BBC Radio Orchestra for eight years), Imogen Barford (Philharmonia and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra) and Sioned Williams (BBC Symphony Orchestra).

Since returning to Norfolk I have enjoyed the wide variety of the music world, from orchestral playing, solo performances, teaching, session work and composition. It is sometimes surprising the versatility of the harp, and I continue to be inspired, challenged and in love with this enchanting instrument.
