Description

This is an ex-hire 27-string Morwenna Rose harp. This particular harp was the product of a broken soundbox (I believe the harp was knocked off a fairly high shelf). The neck and pillar were rescued, with just a small amount of cosmetic damage, and fitted with a new soundbox.

The soundbox was made in February 2022 in our workshop in Woodchester. It’s hard to precisely date the neck and pillar, but I believe they were made in late 2020 or early 2021.

The harp has been refurbished, including regulating the levers, and is now just as good as any other second-hand harp. It has been rented out and recently come back to us. It has some minor cosmetic damage, as shown in photos.

It has a bright, lively tone and a beautiful gloss finish, and it is the result of over 7 years and 200 harps worth of experience (this was our 290th).

Would have been £1060 new.

The soundboard is made from aircraft birch plywood, so called because of its use in aeroplanes due to its very high strength-to-weight ratio. This means that 3mm of wood can bear a high string tension, which in turn makes the notes ring beautifully. A thinner soundboard resonates better with the strings.
