Description
This is an ex-hire 27 string Morwenna Rose harp. It is in excellent condition with very few signs of previous use, such as small scratches and scuffs.
Originally made in November 2020 in our workshop in Woodchester, this unusual harp had 3 holes accidentally drilled in the wrong place for the bridge pins, which you can see in one of the photos. We’ve filled them with wooden plugs, but they’re still visible. This will have no effect on the sound or structure of the harp.
It would originally have been a Performance Harp, so it has the upgraded metalwork i.e. taper pins instead of the usual zither pins we use on Morwenna Rose Student Harps. But it has the nylon strings of a student harp, which are lower tension and ideal for a beginner.
It has a bright, lively tone and a beautiful gloss finish, and it is the result of over 7 years and 200 harps worth of experience (this was our 208th).
As a Morwenna Rose Student Harp, this would have been £650 new, but this has the upgraded metalwork of a Performance Harp, which we sell fully levered for £1350. It’s not been used much and is as good as new.
The soundboard is made from aircraft birch plywood, so-called because of its use in aeroplanes due to its very high strength to weight ratio. This means that 3mm of wood can bear a high string tension, which in turn makes the notes ring beautifully. A thinner soundboard resonates better with the strings.
