Unlevered Morwenna Rose 89
Ex-hire 27 string Morwenna Rose harp in excellent condition.
Out of stock
This is an ex-hire 27 string Morwenna Rose harp. It is in good condition with signs of previous use, such as small scratches and scuffs.
Made in February 2017 in our old workshop in Nailsworth, this rare “mark 1.5” harp has a straight pillar and visibly layered neck and pillar. Only 8 of these were made, we had improved the sound of the harp by making the soundbox lighter and lengthening the strings, but this was the only batch we made without veneering the neck and pillar.
Would have been £585 new.
It has a bright, lively tone and a beautiful gloss finish.
The soundboard is made from aircraft birch plywood, so called because of it’s use in aeroplanes due to it’s very high strength to weight ratio. This means that 3mm of wood can bear a high string tension, which in turn makes the notes ring beautifully. A thinner soundboard resonates better with the strings.
It has a dent on the back left of the soundbox (pictured), but this is not large enough to cause any issue with the structure or sound of the harp.
